Its primary active constituents — rosmarinic acid, carnosic acid, and 1,8-cineole — deliver a dual action: potent antioxidant protection against free-radical damage, and a mild vasodilatory effect that improves local microcirculation. When activated by the cream's thermal mechanism, the oil disperses more readily across the skin surface, allowing these actives to penetrate the stratum corneum at a measurably higher rate than cold application. The result is a visible improvement in skin tone uniformity and a reduction in the appearance of surface dullness over consistent use.

In a thermally activated formula, the gentle heat assists with ester hydrolysis at the skin surface, releasing free ascorbic acid where it can act most effectively.

    Butylated hydroxytoluene is a synthetic antioxidant used at low concentrations to protect the formula's oil-phase ingredients from oxidative degradation. Without an antioxidant stabiliser, the essential oils and lipid components in this cream would begin to oxidise within weeks of manufacture, producing rancid odours and potentially irritating peroxide compounds. BHT prevents this by donating hydrogen atoms to free radicals before they can attack the formula's active ingredients. At the concentrations used in cosmetic formulation (typically 0.01–0.1%), BHT has an extensive safety record and does not penetrate the skin in meaningful quantities.
